Blue is still available at Evansville Animal Care & Control (Official)! Stop by today from 10 am to 4:30 pm for a meet & greet. ... See MoreSee Less
Meet Blue. 💙🐾 This beautiful girl was surrendered at just 4 months old. She deserves to grow up in loving arms, with kisses and a comfy doggie bed. 🏡 You can check her out at EACC. She’s got the charm of another Blue we all know and love, but she’s got the smarts and beauty too. What a steal this girl would be. Honestly, all the Blue look-alikes we met have been outstanding — must be some good bloodlines in there for sure. So stop in and take this gal home. But remember, she’s a puppy. She’ll need guidance, time, and patience. These are living creatures, not cell phones. You don’t just open the box and everything works. 📦➡️🐶 Time and patience, people — that’s the key. ❤️🐾 Evansville Animal Care & Control (Official) Lost Pet Community "Lost Paws and Claws" Evansville Lost Pets 2.0

It’s a little comical—and honestly frustrating— to hear some of the news flashes saying “It’s now going to cost more to own a pet” or to see comments like “My dog, my choice” & “This is government overreach.”
If only some people would take the time to educate themselves before spreading fear and misinformation.
The City of Evansville already had an ordinance in place requiring residents who live within city limits to license their dog, cat, or ferret. To obtain that license, you had to show proof of vaccinations, spay/neuter status, microchip, and obtain a city licensing tag.
These were the fees already in place:
Spayed/Neutered & Microchipped: $10 (lifetime)
Spayed/Neutered & NOT Microchipped: $10 (yearly)
NOT Spayed/Neutered & Microchipped: $20 (yearly)
NOT Spayed/Neutered & NOT Microchipped: $30 (yearly)
These prices are NOT changing.
The only change with the new ordinance is that microchipping will now be required and the physical license tag will no longer be necessary.
At Evansville Animal Control, we have already hosted free microchip events at our shelter, and several local rescues have helped as well. We are working on securing additional funding so we can offer more free microchip events in the future, so stay tuned.
Responsible pet ownership—although I really don’t like the word owner, because our pets are family—means wanting to protect your pet.
You should want to:
• Be reunited quickly if your pet escapes
• Prove your pet is yours if it’s stolen
• Identify your pet if something tragic happens
Microchips help make that possible.
To the media, please share the facts and help portray this change accurately and positively, because messaging matters.
To the naysayers, please check the facts and understand the ordinance before reacting.
And to the many responsible pet lovers in our community—thank you. This is another step forward in helping keep pets safe.
Because at the end of the day, if a $10 lifetime license and a FREE or $25 microchip help get a lost pet back home… that’s not government overreach—that’s common sense. 🎤⬇️🐾 ... See MoreSee Less
